Tui Na Massage

The words Tui Na mean “push-grasp” or “poke-pinch” in Chinese.

Tui-Na is a hands-on body treatment that uses the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.  The practitioner may brush, knead, roll/press and rub the areas between each of the joints to open the bodies defensive Qi (chee) and get the energy moving.  The practitioner will then use range of motion, traction, massage, with stimulation of acupressure points to treat acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Physically, this is a series of pressing, tapping and kneading with palms, fingertips and knuckles that help the body to remove blockages and stimulates the flow of energy and blood to promote healing.  The practitioner will use range of motion, traction, and massage with concentration of specific acupressure points, energy trigger points, muscles and joints.  Through the application of massage and manipulation techniques, Tui Na seeks to establish a more harmonious Qi (chee) energy, allowing the body to naturally heal itself.

Tui Na is especially beneficial if you are looking for a mild, relaxation massage.  Treatments protocols for low back pain include working the whole body from heat to foot as Chinese principles see the lower back as a restriction in the flow of blood and Qi (chee) throughout the whole body.

You may request a full hour of Tui Na or prefer to have some of these techniques incorporated in your regular treatment.
